hi, i’m sam!

i’m a nutritional therapy practitioner, yoga teacher, content creator, corporate marketing veteran, homebody, world travel lover, chronic coffee shop goer, and founder of the shift.

most of us in the holistic wellness space have a story or a reason WHY and how we ended up where we are. And here is mine…

It all started when I was 16 years old and was put on hormonal birth control for super heavy periods and severe cramps. The Pill combined with every yo-yo diet on the planet beginning around the same age, is what set my gut up for severe damage. (And mind you, I had already been dealing with digestive issues since I was a little girl, so I was only worsening the problem.) It wasn't until 11 years on BC, when my dr. told me I should consider switching up my medication to "avoid potentially harmful side effects" that I started searching for answers. That means that for all of my teens and nearly the entirety of my 20's, I didn't really know anything about the female body... and unfortunately, that's far too common.

When I finally quit BC, I dealt with a myriad of issues: severe PMS, painful cystic acne, worsened digestive issues, and I was holding onto weight and bloat that I could not for the life of me figure out. I returned to my dr, feeling desperate and she recommended I get back on BC ASAP. That's when I decided that there had to be another option and to take matters into my own hands and figure out how to manage my symptoms.

For the better part of my 20's I was on a diet of some kind, (carb-free, counting macros, paleo), restricting my favorite foods in the name of health (hello wellness industry disguised as diet culture!). It’s so funny but I always just assumed my gut issues would improve if I ate "clean” but they ended up only getting worse. 😅 I avoided a lot of nourishing carbohydrates and minimized animal products. I ate a green smoothie for breakfast, salad for lunch, and plant-based bowls for dinner. I went heavy on the kale, spinach, and broccoli. I ate tons and tons nuts and seeds. CLEAN RIGHT? Yet, my issues only got worse and worse.

...That combined with over-exercising, lack of rest days, bulletproof coffee as my only meal until noon, insane amounts of screen time, and way too many social obligations ... my body was maxed out and truthfully, I didn't understand why. (The smoothies tho?!??)

It wasn't until I started learning about hormones and gut health that I realized I was doing more harm than good w/ my "healthy lifestyle." I started going back to basics with my health and focusing on smaller shifts that started to build up. I was nourishing my body with REAL FOOD, ending my restrictive food behaviors, working out based on my cycle, lessening my caffeine, and RESTING more. I started to see and more importantly FEEL results after a few months. 🤯

I graduated from the Nutritional Therapy Association in 2022, where I was lucky enough to learn everything I could about healing with real food, and I continue to educate myself daily and learn as much as possible about holistic health to help women who are struggling just like I was.

Almost everything that the mainstream wellness industry is telling us is backwards. Band-aid approaches are NOT the answer and you CAN find the root cause of your health concerns.

As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, my biggest goal is to help people find a lifestyle that will make them FEEL GOOD for the rest of their lives, but not with an “all or nothing” approach that is commonly recommended. Instead, I want to help you see that a healthy lifestyle is more than just green juice and yoga. It’s about fueling our mind + bodies with small but mighty shifts that actually work for you—without the burnout, the restriction, or the overwhelm.

Because true wellness isn’t about following rigid rules or chasing the latest trend. It’s about learning to listen to your body, nourishing it with real food, moving in a way that feels good, and creating balance in all aspects of life—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

This is exactly why I created the shift. It’s the membership I wish I had when I was struggling—one that simplifies wellness, cuts through the noise, and helps you make small, sustainable changes that lead to lasting transformation.

If my story resonates with you, know that you’re not alone. You don’t have to do this by yourself, and you don’t have to keep guessing. I’m here to help you make the shift—without the stress.

Let’s do this together. 💛
